Centenarian Banquet

The sixth annual Sacramento Centenarian Banquet will honor individuals 100 years of age and older by celebrating their lives on June 21, 2008 at the Lion's Gate Pavilion, McClellan Business Park, Sacramento. Centenarians in the Sacramento area have lead remarkable lives and it is an honor to tell their stories. One local centenarian, George Francis, has been recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest man in the United States. Centenarians are an important part of the Sacramento region’s local cultural heritage.

Funds raised from this celebration will be used to help sustain and support the critical safety net programs of the Sacramento County Senior and Adult Services Division of the Department of Health and Human Services. By becoming a sponsor or a donor/participant of this major event honoring Sacramento’s centenarians you will be helping to prevent our vulnerable elders from ending their lives in poverty, pain and isolation. Our elders were there for us when we needed them. Now it is our turn to ensure that they are able to enjoy their “golden years” with respect and dignity.

Why should we care? It has been said that age is the great equalizer. No matter how much we accomplish in life, in the end, we are all susceptible to the frailties of old age.
